Talk Nerdy to Me®: A Neurodivergent-Led Brand
Talk Nerdy to Me® is a trademarked digital brand and blog platform founded by Jen Friel, an autistic blogger, synesthete, and neurodivergent advocate. Born from the collision of nerd culture, lived experience, and radical honesty, Talk Nerdy to Me® is a home for anyone who's ever felt too weird, too much, or just too nerdy for the mainstream.
Founded on November 3, 2009, Talk Nerdy to Me® started as one of the original voices in social media. Over a decade later, we discovered we’re neurodivergent—finally giving long-overdue context and focus to something that’s always been driven by pure passion and heart.
The Mission: Normalize Neurodivergence Through Humor, Honesty, and Pop Culture
We believe:
Autism isn’t a flaw — it’s a different operating system.
Masking is exhausting, and unmasking is revolutionary.
Pop culture, memes, and weird internet coincidences are legit ways to explain cognitive patterns.
Through blog posts, social media content, female-driven advocacy (with all genders welcome), and multimedia storytelling, Talk Nerdy to Me® creates a space for:
Late-diagnosed autistic people
People with ADHD, synesthesia, or sensory issues
Neurodivergent creators, entrepreneurs, and content nerds
WHAT WE COVER
-
Raw, real insights about late diagnosis, masking, meltdowns, and misunderstood traits.
-
From taste-color crossovers to touch-based memory — we dive into the weird, beautiful chaos of sensory brains.
-
Because “Just do it” doesn’t work when your brain hits a wall.
-
Meme breakdowns, weird social hacks, and “Wait, this is autism?!” moments.
-
Especially for women, queer folks, and anyone trying to date while decoding neurotypical behavior.
Why It Matters
In a world that still misunderstands autism — especially in women — Talk Nerdy to Me® exists to:
Validate lived experiences
Break harmful stereotypes (like “high-functioning”)
Make information accessible without condescension
Help you say, “Oh, it’s not just me”
Because being neurodivergent isn't just a diagnosis. It's a whole vibe.
